Family-friendly Hasselö is a vibrant island midway between Västervik and Loftahammar. Here there are activities and nature experiences for the whole family all year round. The island is an idyll that can be discovered on foot, by bike or with a tractor and trailer. Hasselö is one of the largest islands without a connection to the mainland in the archipelago and which together with the neighboring island of Sladö, which now has a bridge connection with Hasselö, it extends over nine miles from north to south with a maximum width of four kilometers.
Since it has approximately 25 permanent residents and 400 part-time residents, it is also one of the most densely populated islands in the area. Hasselö has a sandy beach and a varied landscape with a nice, car-free gravel road. The island has a youth hostel that is open all year and at the beach there is a general store that is open in the summer that has a cafe and serves meals, a guest marina and bike and ocean kayak rentals. Two kilometers from Hasselö Sand is the Sjökanten Restaurant which serves lunch and evening meals in a genuine fishing environment and the restaurant is open during the summer months.
One kilometer further away is the neighboring island and nature reserve called Sladö where you can buy fish and stroll around in open pastures, among pollarded trees overlooking the horizon.
